When I think of Jack Huffman. Two Christlike traits come to mind. I don’t think there was an appliance around that he couldn’t fix. He helped so many people throughout the years with our Deacon Helping Hands ministry. He and his trusty sidekick Charlie were so gracious in giving their time and talent to many. The next thing that comes to mind is Vacation Bible School year after year and teaching children about Jesus and sharing the Gospel with them. Jack loved to tell stories and he had tons of them!! He and Alice also loved spending time at the camp at Toledo Bend with their friends. They fished and played card and board games and had a great time. As time went by Alice and Jack were the only ones of the group left. They missed the relationships that had grown through

the years. He and Alice were perfect partners and she cared for him until he went home to Jesus. He left a lasting impression on Grawood and is greatly missed!

Well I have a couple funny stories to share. I had the privilege of spending quite a bit of time with Jack and Alice near the end.

One morning I went by to check on them, Jack said he needed two smoke alarms replaced. I got right to work all the time Jack setting in his recliner in his underwear telling me how to do it LOL. I got down from the ladder to inform that engineer that I was 69 years old and knew how to put smoke detectors up. We all three busted out laughing as I threatened to quite .

One evening as I was leaving the hospital, I would always as Jack if he wanted anything special. Jack said he wanted some mounds candy bars but absolutely not tell Alice. The next day I show up and there was Alice so I texted her as I set beside what Jack wanted. Knowing Jack was a bad diabetic, I didn't know what to do. Finally as the evening wore on Jack said you got something for me LOL. Alice said he can have 2 of the four you brought i get the other two. As usual we all had a great laugh hoping I didn't create a diabetic coma.

“It was a time for us when money was a little tighter than Fontaine and I would have liked … and then our dryer broke. Well, Jack Huffman had a reputation for knowing stuff so we called him for advice. So instead of just giving us advice about a good name brand to get, he came over and fixed the dryer we had…. at no charge! That is a special memory for us and we will always be grateful for Jack and for his servant’s heart. We miss you Jack and now instead of fixing dryers you get to fix your eyes on Jesus!”
